2009 Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc, New Zealand - Regularly $16.99
Kim Crawford was awarded "Winemaker of the Year" two consecutive years in the 90's and then he and wife Erica opened their own winery in 1996 in a spare room in their home in Auckland. Winning awards for his wines from the start made them realize how quickly this winery was going to grow. So, in 1999 they partnered with Te Awanga Vineyards which enabled them to build a cellar door and tasting room facility in Hawke's Bay. Kim Crawford Wines is now owned completely by the USA based Constellation Brands and represents their NZ division. One thing is certain......the quality of this Sauvignon Blanc hasn't wavered since the original award winning vintage.
"Fragrant and complex, with a refreshing burst of lime, guava, grapefruit and grass flavors. Wet stone, passion fruit and oyster shell accents add interest, with bright acidity highlighting the vivid finish. Another outstanding Sauvignon from a perennial success." - 91 Points, Best Buy, #40 in The Top 100 Wines of the Year, The Wine Spectator - 7 years of ratings in the 90's!!!
