2009 I Stefanini Il Selese Soave D.O.C., Italy - Regularly $11.99
Most people know the wine Soave, but don't know much about it. Garganega is one of the most widely planted white grapes in all of Italy, and certainly in the northeastern part of Italy. It is known for its beautifully fragrant aromas and is often blended with a little Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc. The Il Selese Soave is 100% Garganega, making it a clean and light wine…a perfect aperitif. Serve it well chilled and enjoy on its own!
2007 Clos Du Val Carneros Chardonnay, Napa Valley - Regularly $25.99
French-born winemaker Bernard Portet was sent on a mission in 1970 to find new territory with the potential to produce world-class wines. Napa Valley’s microclimates convinced him to stake a claim on some of the finest hillside land in the cool-climate region of Carneros, purchasing 180 acres in 1973. It wasn't until 1983 that their first Chardonnay was made because their focus had been on Bordeaux varietals, which were continuing to receive world recognition. One of the winery's great achievements was recognition of Wine & Spirits Magazine “Winery of the Year” four times within five years! With the cooler weather in Carneros, the Clos Du Val Chardonnay is known for a wonderful elegance and balance of fruit and oak.
"Smoky pear flavors and lemony acidity rise up from under this wine’s warm blanket of alcohol. The fruit is relatively light for such a rich style. Chill for roast salmon." - 89 points, Wine & Spirits.
2008 Le Grande Noir (Black Sheep) Pinot Noir, France - Regularly $10.99
In a world where so many things increasingly look the same, you'll find Le Grande Noir quite unique. Both their Chardonnay and Pinot Noir were winners in The Wine Trials 2010 “The world’s bestselling guide to inexpensive wines.” Le Grand Pinot Noir is currently ranked #3 in the United States by sales volume and dollar sales among French Pinot Noir. It's a blend of Pinot Noir (88%) and Grenache (12%) from the Languedoc-Roussillon (Limoux), the “Tuscany of the South of France", and is very approachable with cherry and currant flavors and a hint of spice. A good choice for pork, tuna, salmon and hard cheeses.
2007 Landers-Jenkins Spirit Hawk Cabernet Sauvignon, Sonoma - Regularly $14.99
Rutherford Wine Company, the multi-generation family owned and operated winery, launched its Lander-Jenkins “Spirit Hawk” wines. The full flavors of ripe Bing cherry, black currant, and crème brûlée lead to a long, well structured finish. The new Landers-Jenkins "Spirit Hawk" wines are definitely a BEST BUY!
